Photo - Starting this weekend, Ranger Shannon Moeck will present a new program "Kneading in Silence: A Glimpse Into The Life of Judah the Enslaved Cook" in the Belle Grove Winter Kitchen. Judah was owned by the Bowman and Hite families since her birth in 1794 and served as the cook until her death in 1836. This program will be presented at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20, September 3, September 10, September 17, and September 24. It is free of charge and is a program of National Park Service Centennial. We thank Shannon for helping us tell this important story!

Photo - On Monday colleagues from the Library of Virginia delivered their traveling exhibit "To Be Sold" about the slave trade in Virginia. It will be on view until Sunday, September 25 on the lower level of the Manor House along with an exhibit about slavery at Belle Grove. Both are free of charge, but admission applies for house tours. There will also be programs connected to this exhibit and a schedule is posted at http://bellegrove.org/calendar/to_be_sold_exhibit. We hope you will join us!
